A seven-case late-May calendar

The Supreme Court today announced it would hear arguments in seven cases at its next calendar, the second of two calendars in May. This will be a heavier calendar than the court has had in a while. Like all calendars since April 2020 , the late-May 2022 calendar will be remote and based in San Francisco.

Another one-day calendar in November

The Supreme Court’s November calendar, announced today, will have five cases on it. That’s a small enough number to have all arguments heard in one day, same as the September and October calendars. The last multi-day argument session was in June. Briefing was completed in December 2012.

Ramping up — Supreme Court schedules nine-case early-May calendar; it’s mostly civil and will be remote

The Supreme Court yesterday announced a nine-case early-May calendar. May is the only month with two different argument calendars. The early-May calendar is larger than recent ones. There haven’t been this many arguments during one week since the 10-case June 2020 calendar.

Four cases on the February calendar, including one that’s the answer to a trivia question

The Supreme Court has announced a four-case February calendar. The arguments will be live streamed , as all arguments have been since May 2016. The court continues on a pace for a low output of opinions. At this rate, there will be only 47 or 48 opinions this term, slightly fewer than last term’s historically low output.
