A surprisingly large number of lawyers, judged from my anecdotal experience, are interested in teaching a law school class. I just wrapped up my whirlwind of a first semester as an adjunct law professor teaching Contract Drafting at the University of Richmond School of Law. Here are some key lessons I learned, which I hope will help inform your decision on whether to pursue an adjunct position.

The German government Thursday presented plans to make it easier for transgender people to legally change their first name and gender, ending the current rules which require an expert assessment and court authorization. Under Germany’s current “transsexual law,” which was put in place under the Transgender Act of 1980, individuals are required to go through a lengthy process of obtaining assessments from two experts and a court decision in their favor.

The US Supreme Court Thursday declined to consider whether jail officials who “respond unreasonably” to “obvious risk” are protected by qualified immunity. Derek Monroe was placed on suicide watch while in a Texas jail by jail administrator Mary Jo Brixey. Monroe attempted to commit suicide. Sheriff Leslie Cogdill allegegedly spoke with Monroe and reflected Monroe’s mental health concern on his intake form.

Violent and illegal deportations of migrants must stop, now,” in a statement on Greek immigration policies after meeting with Greek government officials. According to Johansson, Greek officials plan to reform the controversial migrant deportation policy that is currently in place.

Former SS guard Josef Schuetz was charged for his participation in the “execution by firing squad of Soviet prisoners of war in 1942” and operating the gas chambers at Sachsenhausen concentration camp.
