Saudi Arabian border guards have killed hundreds of Ethiopian migrants attempting to cross the Yemen-Saudi Arabia border, according to a Monday report from Human Rights Watch (HRW). The report documented incidents between March 2022 and June 2023 using interviews with 42 Ethiopian migrants, satellite imagery and social media posts. According to the report, Saudi border guards used explosive weapons such as mortars against migrants and shot them at close range with live ammunition.

The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) took action on Friday to extend and redesignate Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for nationals of Ukraine and Sudan due to ongoing armed conflicts in those countries. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas stated that DHS is prolonging and redesignating the TPS designation of both Ukraine and Sudan for 18 months, from October 20, 2023 until April 19, 2025.
