The Uganda Police Force conducted a security operation on Thursday to quell ongoing protests against the arrest of opposition leader Bobi Wine. According to the official press release, police arrested 40 suspects for inciting violence, including lawmaker Matovu Charles. A three-judge panel in Alabama chose a new congressional district map on Thursday in response to a lawsuit arguing that the Alabama legislature’s congressional map was racially gerrymandered. The decision comes only a few weeks after the US Supreme Court rejected a petition from the state government, which sought to appeal a court order prohibiting the use of gerrymandered congressional maps in Alabama elections.

The European Parliament adopted a resolution Thursday in support of Nagorno-Karabakh and condemning Azerbaijan’s aggression against Nagorno-Karabakh. The resolution also called on the EU to sanction Azerbaijani officials who were responsible for attacks that led to numerous human rights violations. A Russian rocket attack Thursday destroyed a cafe and grocery store in Hroza, Ukraine, killing at least 51 civilians, according to Ukrainian authorities. Ukranian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko stated on Telegram that a six-year-old child was among the dead in Hroza, a village of around 300 people. The search and rescue mission continues into Friday, as rescuers and forensic scientists sort through the debris and identify those killed.
