Torts has long struggled with the vicarious liability of promoters and celebrities for accidents. However, the use of criminal charges, in my view, is neither needed nor wise. Tort law and civil fines force such celebrities and companies to be accountable for the creation of dangerous or “tumultuous” circumstances.

Notably, Biden has not brought a civil lawsuit for a privacy tort claim despite the bluster and bombast of these letters. Under the tort of “public disclosure of embarrassing private facts,” you can be sued for publishing even true statements that a reasonable person would find offensive.

Imagine one avatar assaults another: Could we apply criminal laws of assault and battery to this situation?

Can you share classes you’ve taken and in what year of study? My favourite subjects were Criminal law (Year 1), Criminal Evidence (year 2) and Human rights (year 3). Therefore, personally I thought that these subjects were areas of law that directly affected especially marginalised people.

I was also able to take up roles on the student council, as a course representative and now as the representative for the law school. Exploring law was my most memorable class in my first year as there was often meditation involved and exploration of topics such as finding joy in law.

The Deputy Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, Porter is also on the faculty of University of California (Irvine) Law School, though listed as “on leave.” While these ethical complaints are difficult to maintain under the generous rules of the House, Porter’s conduct warrants condemnation.
