Many are by now aware of the fact that AI tools such as ChatGPT have been able to pass exams from prestigious law schools and business schools. The chatbot tool was able to pass four exams at the law school of the University of Minnesota and one exam at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

On the positive side, the ChatGPT power may permit lawyers to produce documents and perhaps even legal research more efficiently, making legal services for the underserved less expensive. And we have already seen efforts to have bots advise “clients” on run-of-the-mill legal representation issues in court.

[2] Dean Andrew Perlman of Suffolk Law School, who co-wrote the law review article with Chat, said “the bot ‘isn’t ready for prime time,’” but does not seem too “far off.” [3]
