A New York judge has ordered lawyer Rudy Giuliani to testify before a Georgia grand jury investigating possible coordinated attempts to interfere in the 2020 presidential election.

Judge Thomas Farber of New York ordered Giuliani to testify before the Fulton County, Georgia, grand jury after he failed to appear at a hearing in which he could challenge the subpoena.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the New York Times, CNN, Reuters, NBC News and Politico are among the publications with coverage.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis revealed Farber’s July 13 order in a July 20 court filing.

The New York Times reports that Giuliani “appears to be of interest for a number of reasons, including his participation in a scheme to create slates of pro-Trump presidential electors in numerous states, including Georgia. In court filings this week, it was revealed that all 16 pro-Trump electors in Georgia had been informed by the Fulton County district attorney’s office that they could face charges.”

Giuliani also pushed false conspiracy theories when he appeared before two Georgia legislative committees in December 2020, according to the New York Times.

Other lawyers subpoenaed in the investigation include John Eastman, Kenneth Chesebro and Cleta Mitchell, according to Politico.

Mitchell, a former partner at Foley & Lardner, was on former President Donald Trump’s Jan. 2, 2021, phone call to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. Trump had asked Raffensperger to “find” the votes needed to make him win in Georgia.
