DOJ arrests three Florida residents in connection with Capitol riot

The US Department of Justice (DOJ) Wednesday announced the arrest of three Florida residents. The three individuals, Leslie Gray, Traci Isaacs and Luis Hallon of St. Cloud, Florida were charged in connection with their actions in the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021.

The complaint filed in the District of Columbia stated: “Gray is charged with civil disorder and obstruction of an official proceeding, both felonies, as well as misdemeanor offenses. Isaacs is charged with destruction of documents, a felony, and related misdemeanors, and Hallon is charged with misdemeanor offenses.”

The complaint alleges that all three defendants “illegally made their way onto the Capitol grounds and into the building.” Gray took multiple videos inside the US Capitol. In one video Gray said, “I am in Congress. This is our house. This is our house . . . I don’t know what we are doing now but we are in here. We’ve taken it.” Gray also repeatedly yelled “traitor” at law enforcement officers and managed to get past an officer who told her not to go any further.

Isaacs and other individuals exchanged text messages about the US Capitol breach on January 6, which she “deleted based on a review of her cellphone.” However, FBI agents recovered some of the deleted messages from an analysis of her cellphone. In one of the text messages Isaacs told the person to delete anything Issacs had sent them. She added, “Feds are going after people hard.”

The complaint also alleges Isaacs applied to volunteer with the Oath Keepers on January 6, since she had paramedic training. The Oath Keepers are an American far-right anti-government militia whose members claim to defend the Constitution of the United States. Members of the Oath Keepers have already pled guilty to federal crimes for their role in the Capitol riot.

Gray, Issacs and Hallon are expected to appear in a federal court in the Middle District of Florida later today.
