White nationalist group charged with conspiracy to riot at Idaho pride event released on bail

Members of white supremacist group Patriot Front Monday were released from jail on bond after being charged with conspiracy to riot, a misdemeanor. Coeur d’Alene police originally arrested 31 group members on Saturday after a 911 call reported men in riot gear near a local pride event who “looked like a little army.”

Police first discovered the group hiding inside a U-haul truck several blocks away from a Pride event in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. The men wore matching clothing and possessed masks, shields and riot gear. All 31 have ties to a white nationalist hate group known as Patriot Front.

According to the Anti-Defamation League, Patriot Front is a white supremacist group who closely align with the ideals of American fascism and nationalism. The group claims to focus on preserving America’s European-American identity.

Police claim the men came to the area to riot. Coeur d’Alene Police Chief Lee White said that evidence indicates the men came to riot in several areas of downtown, not just the pride event.

Those arrested included men from 13 states, including Michigan, Texas, Alabama, Colorado, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, South Dakota, Washington, Oregon, Illinois, Arkansas and Missouri. The men have until June 30 to contact the court and set a date for their court appearances. Each man bonded out of the Kootenai County Jail for $300.
