It’s not everyday that a law student wins a global title, but that just happened to Krystyna Pyszková of the Czech Republic, who is studying law at Charles University in Prague. On Saturday, Pyszková was crowned as Miss World 2024 during the 71st Miss World pageant held in Mumbai, India.

Pyszková, whose “proudest moment” was opening a school for underprivileged students in Tanzania, was not afraid to let her passion for education be known throughout the competition. Here’s more from CNN:

[T]he contestants participated in the classic Q&A round, addressing topics discussed at the most recent G20 Summit. Asked to shed light on an issue impacting women’s health care specifically, Pyszková, a 23-year-old law student and model, spoke about removing the stigma and shame surrounding menstruation, saying that “being a woman is a gift” and that periods should not be a taboo subject.

“Being crowned Miss World is a dream come true. I am deeply honored to represent my country and the values of ‘beauty with a purpose’ on a global platform,” Pyszková said.

Congratulations to Krystyna Pyszková!
