And she's not the only T14 educator to land a seat at the table.

The Supreme Court has a rich and fascinating history well worth studying, and that’s why President Joe Biden recently appointed the dean of one of the most elite law schools in the country to the Permanent Committee for the Oliver Wendell Holmes Devise, which explores the history of America’s highest court.

According to an announcement from the White House, Dean Risa Lauren Goluboff of UVA Law will now sit on the committee for an eight-year term. Goluboff is the first female dean in the law school’s history, and as noted by UVA, her scholarship and teaching focuses on the historical development of American constitutional and civil rights law in the 20th century. “This is a wonderful honor to accept—many historians I admire have worked on the project—and I look forward to helping to document the history of the Supreme Court through this important work,” Goluboff said in a statement.

Law.com has additional details on what the committee does:

The Permanent Committee for the Oliver Wendell Holmes Devise was established by Congress in 1955 after the late Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. bequeathed a portion of his estate to the United States in 1935, according to the announcement. Congress used the gift to establish the committee, which is charged with documenting and disseminating the history of the United States Supreme Court.

“The Committee’s principal purpose is to continue to publish the multi-volume work documenting the history of the Court,” according to the White House’s announcement.

A second T14 educator was also selected to be a part of the committee. Professor and dean emeritus Trevor Morrison of NYU will be working alongside Goluboff in their quest to co-author another volume of Supreme Court history. Morrison teaches and writes about constitutional law and the federal courts, and serves as Of Counsel to Kaplan Hecker & Fink.

Congratulations to Dean Goluboff and Professor Morrison!
