How To Run A Law Firm Without A Home Office – Or Even A Home

Curious about becoming a 'digital nomad'? This episode of the Non-Eventcast is for you.

digital-nomads-4875466_1280The COVID-19 pandemic was an international disaster that brought death and destruction across the globe.

That was undoubtedly awful, but the pandemic also unlocked the remote workforce like never before.

Knowledge workers could now work from anywhere — including those knowledge workers who own service businesses, like law firms. And lots of folks still aren’t back in the office.

That’s why we brought Megan Hargroder-Graham of Conversations Digital, a website design and marketing firm, onto the Non-Eventcast podcast, to talk about how she’s been living the last year-plus as a “digital nomad” — all while continuing to run her business without a hitch.

Megan and I start at the beginning, by trying to identify what a “digital nomad” even is (2:16). Then we dive in, as Megan talks about how she pulled her paperwork together to work internationally (6:27) – as well as discussing her favorite places that she’s visited (8:10) thus far.

After that, Megan dives into the tech she uses to support her lifestyle, including VPNs (14:11), tools for managing time zones (10:52), and even the selection of digital backgrounds (15:55).

But wait – there’s more: Megan’s also got tips for external and internal communications (18:20, 22:04), including video tools (19:43). Finally, we leave off on considerations for booking time (25:55) and managing email (23:49).

If you want to buy that one-way ticket to Lisbon and see how it goes – we’ve got all the hot tips you’ll need. Well, we can’t teach you how to speak Portuguese, but we’ve got everything else you want!
