Employees want a sense of purpose in what they do, and as they figure out how to find meaningful work, job crafting may be a more effective way to do so than looking for an entirely new position. The job crafting process has three forms:

  • Task crafting: switching the type of role and the tasks involved in it
  • Relationship crafting: altering who you are interacting with in the scope of your job duties
  • Cognitive crafting: changing how you interpret the work you are doing
