Biglaw Firms Should Give Associates Bonuses On This 'Giving Tuesday' So They Can Give Back
Lawyers should pre-spend some of their incoming bonus money on something noble: giving back to their communities.
Associates are still waiting on bonus (and raise!) announcements from Biglaw writ large, but we have a feeling that soon their bank accounts will be a little more flush with cash. We know you’ve got big plans for all of that money. Maybe you’re in the market to purchase your own Lawyerly Lair, despite today’s mortgage rates. Perhaps you’re planning to completely pay off your student loans. Or maybe you’re willing to pre-spend some of your bonus bucks to make the world a little better for someone you don’t even know.
If you’re feeling altruistic, why not make a charitable donation to support a good cause? Today is Giving Tuesday, and it’s a time to give back to your community, whether through donations of your time or your money. Don’t forget that your law firm may be willing to match any of your charitable contributions. Some ideas:

Regardless of whether you go with any of these charities, please consider using some of your incoming bonus money to support a worthy cause. With partners soon sharing the wealth, associates should share the wealth with those who are less fortunate or need legal assistance.
