Hillary Clinton — who worked as a lawyer before becoming a first lady, a secretary of state, and a presidential candidate — has a new documentary series on Apple TV+, which is set to debut in early September. In “Gutsy,” Clinton works alongside her daughter, Chelsea, to celebrate women.

In a particularly interesting episode for members of the legal profession, Clinton decides to do battle against reality TV star turned legal apprentice Kim Kardashian in a test of their knowledge on the law. So, who prevailed in this match-up? It might be a little surprising, but Kardashian won the competition hands down. People has all the details:

“I think Kim has an unfair advantage,” Hillary hedges in the episode previewed exclusively here and in the new issue of PEOPLE.

Chelsea, acting as quizmaster, allows: “Kim has studied more recently than you.”

After a round of questions on the use of deadly force, the difference between extortion and robbery, and when a claim of self-defense is permissible, Kim soundly beat Hillary, 11-4.

Clinton said her loss to Kardashian was “heartbreaking,” but her daughter attributed it to poor buzzer skills. “I think she just needs to work on her reaction time,” Chelsea said. “Sometimes, I could see my mom knew what the answer was, but she wouldn’t hit the buzzer in time.”

Clinton went on to say that she’s impressed by what Kardashian has done with her life. “She worked so hard (on the bar) and persevered,” Clinton said. “We didn’t interview her about fashion … her many lines of commerce … her personal life. We interviewed about what she was doing to help get people who were unjustly or unfairly incarcerated have a second chance.”

Returning to the legal quiz, Clinton said, “I was really intrigued by how well she did. I wanted to put the spotlight on her, not that she needs it, but she worked really hard to get that.” But People wanted to know, did the Yale Law graduate perhaps go easy on Kardashian to give her opponent the glory here?

You’re not saying you let her win, are you?

“No! I’m not saying that,” Hillary hastens to reply. “It’s more the reaction time.”

Congratulations to Kim Kardashian on besting Hillary Clinton!
