Last week, Washington County, Maryland Circuit Court Judge Andrew Fisher Wilkinson was gunned down in his driveway in what authorities called a “targeted attack.” Soon after the murder, authorities turned their attention to Pedro Argote.

Hours before Wilkinson’s murder, the judge ruled against Argote in his divorce case, granting his wife a divorce, custody of the couple’s four children, and ordering Argote to pay child support.

After a weeklong manhunt, Argote was found dead. These are the details authorities have released:

On October 26, 2023, at approximately 11:00 AM, during an expanded evidentiary search in the Williamsport, MD area, a deceased person was located.

The deceased individual has been positively identified as Pedro Argote, the suspect wanted for the murder of Maryland Circuit Court Judge Andrew Wilkinson.

The deceased was located in a heavily wooded area between Clear Spring Road and Bottom Road approximately 1 mile North West of where the suspect vehicle was found.

The time and cause of Argote’s death has not been revealed.

Washington County Sheriff Brian Albert said finding Argote is a “relief,” but it is “still a tragedy.”

He continued, “We just came from Judge Wilkinson’s viewing, met with the family. They were very appreciative. It brings a little bit of closure to them, but it’s still a tragedy. They lost a husband, father and a brother.”
