Hong Kong court grants bail to ex-lawmaker in national security case
Hong Kong’s Court of First Instance on Monday granted bail to Albert Ho Chun-yan, a former lawmaker and the former vice chair of the Hong Kong Alliance, who had been held for a year in a national security case.

Ho was accused with two others, Lee Cheuk-yan, and Chow Hang-tung, of inciting subversion of state power under a China-imposed national security law.

The court, while granting bail, referred to Ho’s heath and warned that any future acts endangering national security will lead to the revocation of Ho’s bail and cancellation of his private medical care. 

Justice Johnny Chan Jong-herng granted bail on the conditions that Ho: pay HK$700,000 as a surety; report to the Wan Chai police station three times a week; not make any speech that could be deemed as violating the national security law; not meet foreign officials, and surrender all travel documents.

Earlier, the West Kowloon magistrate rejected his bail application, after which Ho filed an application before the High Court.
