The US Department of Defense (DOD) Wednesday said it will release Gussan Abdullah Al Sharbi after 20 years in Guantanamo Bay. Al Sharbi, a citizen of Saudi Arabia, is set to be transferred the Kingdom for repatriation. Al Sharbi was captured in Pakistan in 2002 by the US military. He was accused of training al Qaeda militants in the English language and on construction of circuit boards for remotely detonated bombs.

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Thursday denied plotting to assassinate the president of the Russian-backed breakaway state Transnistria. The denial comes after the Transnistrian Ministry of State Security (MGB) said it thwarted an SBU-orchestrated terrorist attack targeting multiple Transistrian government officials.
