US federal judge blocks request to reinstate abortion ban in Guam

A federal court in Guam Friday denied a request to reinstate a total abortion ban on the island of Guam. The Attorney General of Guam Douglas Moylan filed the motion to reinstate the ban. Chief Judge Frances Tydingco-Gatewood of the District Court of Guam ruled that the original permanent injunction from 1990, which blocked Public Law No. 20-134 , should remain in effect.

Idaho governor signs bill to allow execution by firing squad

Idaho Governor Brad Little Saturday signed into law a bill allowing execution by firing squad. With the bill signed, Idaho now permits death by lethal injection or firing squad. The bill states the Director of the Idaho Department of Corrections shall determine whether lethal injection is available. If it is not, then a firing squad shall be used for execution.

First Hong Kong protest since 2020 held under tight police restrictions
