A North Carolina sheriff’s office Monday announced it will pay a $3 million settlement to settle a case brought by the family of a Black man who was fatally shot by police. The family of Andrew Brown Jr. filed a federal lawsuit in July of 2021 seeking $30 million against Pasquotank Sheriff Tommy Wooten and deputies. Brown was killed on April 21 2021 when Pasquotank County Sheriff’s deputies fired shots into his vehicle.
