Federal appeals court upholds pro-worker California law limiting arbitration

The US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit held Wednesday that workers in California will not be forced into arbitration as a condition of employment. In 2019, California passed Assembly Bill 51 (AB51), to limit workplace arbitration agreements. It prohibits employers from requiring employees to sign arbitration agreements as a condition of employment.

Door Dash sues New York City over food delivery data law

Door Dash, Inc. filed a complaint in the Southern District of New York on Wednesday over a new ordinance the company says violates customer privacy. The New York City Council proposed a bill in May to require food delivery apps to share customer data with restaurants. The bill took effect on August 29. Delivery services do not have to share data with restaurants unless the restaurant requests it, and customers can opt out of data sharing.
