New York man sentenced for threatening Sen. Warnock and possession of ammunition ahead of US Capitol riot

A federal judge Thursday sentenced Eduard Florea , a New York man who applied to join a far-right group known as the Proud Boys, to 33 months in prison after he threatened the life of US Senator-elect Raphael Warnock ahead of the January 6 Capitol Riot. Florea was arrested on January 12 by FBI Special Agents and Task Force Officers with the New York Joint Terrorism Task Force.

UK and Australia sign first post-Brexit free trade agreement

The United Kingdom and Australia Friday signed a new free trade agreement. This is the first UK trade agreement to be negotiated and signed since their formal withdrawal from the European Union in 2020. The trade agreement will remove the majority of tariffs on goods exported from the UK to Australia. The tariffs removal will “unlock £10.4 billion of additional trade.” The trade agreement aims to reduce investment risks and promote UK exports into Australia.
