Off-duty Virginia police officer sentenced to 87 months for January 6 riot

Police officer Thomas Robertson Thursday was sentenced to 87 months in prison for his participation in the January 6 riot at the US Capitol. According to court documents , Robertson, 49, and co-defendent Jacob Fracker were both officers with the Rocky Mount, Virginia, Police Department and were off duty when they headed for Washington, D.C. in Robertson’s car on the morning of January 6, 2021.

Former German Chancellor sues Bundestag over removal of office privileges

Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder Friday sued the German Bundestag for stripping his office space privileges. Schröder’s lawyers Michael Nagel and Ralph Heiermann said that they filed suit on behalf of Schröder at the Berlin Administrative Court but did not release more details. The Bundestag removed Schröder’s right to office space in May when it determined that former Chancellors should not be entitled to office space if they no longer perform official duties.
