Blum Group Threatens 2 More Biglaw Firms With Litigation Over Their Diversity Initiatives

He's targeted five law firms in just over a week. Yikes.

[The American Alliance for Equal Rights] is hopeful these programs will transition to become available to all qualified law students, regardless of their race. Additional litigation may be necessary.

— Edward Blum, leader of the American Alliance for Equal Rights, in a statement given to Bloomberg Law over the organization’s threats against diversity fellowship programs at Fox Rothschild and Susman Godfrey. The Alliance has already filed suit against Morrison Foerster and Perkins Coie, which both revised their DEI fellowships to remove race as a factor, leading to the lawsuits being dropped. Blum has also targeted Winston & Strawn, Hunton Andrews & Kurth, and Adams and Reese, threatening litigation over their diversity programs. While Adams and Reese decided to do away with its program, Winston and Hunton are ready to fight for their diversity initiatives.
