Miami federal prosecutors Friday charged British Virgin Islands (BVI) Premier Andrew Alturo Fahie and two others with drug trafficking and money laundering, the US Department of Justice (DOJ) said. Fahie, BVI Ports Authority Managing Director Oleanvine Maynard and his son Kadeem Maynard were charged with cocaine trafficking and money laundering conspiracies for agreeing to facilitate the safe passage through BVI ports of tons of Colombian cocaine headed to Miami.

Ecuadorian President Guillermo Lasso Friday declared a state of emergency in three of the country’s 24 provinces in response to increasing violence and crime perpetrated by drug-trafficking gangs. During the 60-day state of emergency, 4,000 police personnel and 5,000 members of Ecuador’s armed forces will be deployed in the provinces of Guayas, Manabi and Esmeraldas.

The Supreme Court of India Monday held that the right to bodily integrity of a person includes the right to refuse vaccination under Article 21 of the Indian Constitution. The present writ petition was filed by Dr. Jacob Puliyel, a former member of the National Technical Advisory Group of Immunization. Share The Supreme Court ruled unanimously on Monday that the city of Boston violated the Constitution when it rejected an application to fly a Christian flag on one of the three flagpoles in front of city hall. Because the city program that allowed other private groups to raise and fly their own flags was not speech by the city, the court held, the city could not refuse permission to fly a particular flag because of the views that it expressed.

The US Supreme Court Monday unanimously ruled in Shurtleff v. City of Boston that Boston officials violated the First Amendment by refusing to fly a Christian flag at city hall. Boston city officials approved requests to fly “dozens of different flags” until 2017, when they denied a request from Camp Constitution director Harold Shurtleff.
