Report indicates 36% increase in antisemitic incidences in the US from 2021 to 2022

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) Wednesday released statistics demonstrating 3,697 antisemitic incidents in the US during 2022, a 36 percent increase from the 2,717 incidents recorded in 2021. This is the third year in five years that the number of antisemitic incidents has been higher than the year previous, save for a slight dip in 2020 during stay-at-home orders for COVID. 2022 saw an average of seven antisemitic incidences a day.

The Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR) Wednesday held its first hearing in Beatriz v. El Salvador , a case addressing abortion access in El Salvador. Beatriz, whose real name is witheld for privacy, was denied an abortion in El Salvador despite risks to her health. In early 2013, Beatriz was informed by doctors that her fetus was anencephalic, developing without a brain or skull, and the fetus would not survive more than a few hours after birth.

Belarus court sentences journalist to 3 years prison for ‘insulting authority’

A Belarus court Thursday sentenced Gennady Mozheyko, a reporter working for the pro-Kremlin Russian newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda v Belarusi , to three years prison. The court found that Mozheyko violated Part 1 of Article 368 of Belarusian law by insulting Belarusian authorities. The court also convicted Mozheyko under Part 1 of Article 130 for inciting social enmity.
