South Carolina man sues police after being ‘shot at 50 times’ during wellness check

South Carolina man Trevor Mullinax filed a complaint against York County, South Carolina, and the York County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday claiming he was shot at “around 50 times” during a wellness check in 2021. The complaint states relatives called in a wellness check on Mullinax as he contemplated suicide. Mullinax had a shotgun in the car with him.

The US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit ruled on Tuesday that former Guant ánamo Bay detainee Omar Ahmed Khadr waived his right to appeal his war crime convictions under the Military Commissions Act. Circuit Judge Karen LeCraft Henderson authored the opinion of the court. The court ruled that Khadr waived his right to appeal his convictions in his pretrial agreement with the federal prosecutor on his case.
