— Retired Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer, in comments given before the Federal Bar Association of Massachusetts, concerning calls for the high court to adopt a code of ethics in light of the numerous ethics controversies that have arisen in recent months, related to unreported gifts and loans to justices. Breyer went on to say that in his experience on the court, ethics questions were taken seriously, and result in much reading and calls to colleagues. “Most of the justices, I think, do this still, but that isn’t the impression that’s been given lately,” he said.
