The Legislative Council of Hong Kong passed the Personal Data (Privacy) (Amendment) Bill 2021 on Wednesday. The law deals with “doxxing” which is the public release of information identifying an individual or organization. The Bill was introduced to the Legislative Council in July. The law empowers The Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data to investigate and prosecute doxxing and criminalises these doxxing acts.

The US Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit rejected a lawsuit against Google, Facebook and Twitter on Monday, concerning the 2016 Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando. Plaintiffs, a group of victims of the massacre, sought damages against the social media giants. The plaintiffs made two arguments. The first was that the companies violated anti-terrorism statute 18 U.S.C. §§ 2333(a) & (d)(2).

The Delhi High Court on Monday dismissed a petition filed by Google LLC against the Competition Commission of India (CCI) after the CCI concluded that no confidential information was leaked and recommended the establishment of a committee to examine how such information came to be reported widely by news outlets. The US District Court for the District of South Carolina blocked the state’s mask mandate ban on Tuesday, determining that the mandate discriminates against children with disabilities. Proviso 1.108 , implemented in May of this year, placed a ban on mandating mask-wearing for teachers and school children. It was written into the state school budget with schools facing funding cuts if masks were enforced.
