More Biglaw Firms Are Considering Deferring First-Year Associates

Uh-oh. Which firm will be the next to announce?

Those firms thinking along those lines don’t want to be outliers and are hoping to see others thinking similarly.

Kent Zimmermann, a law firm management consultant with the Zeughauser Group, in comments given to the American Lawyer on the possibility of more deferrals for first-year associates. Zimmermann said that some firms are working on plans to push their start dates back to January, but no one wants to be the first to announce. Gunderson Dettmer and Cooley previously announced plans to defer their first-years.
