White House lawyer Richard Sauber Saturday said more classified documents have been found at President Joe Biden’s Delaware residence.

Earlier this week, the White House announced that classified documents were found at the Penn Biden Center in November last year. However, while arranging for the Department of Justice (DOJ) to take possession of these documents this week, six additional pages of classified information were found by the President’s personal attorneys. The documents are from Biden’s vice presidency, although their level of classification is currently unknown.

Biden’s personal attorneys did not have clearance to view the documents. However, Sauber stated that “if they identified a document with a classified marking, they stopped and did not review it, and suspended any further search in that box, file or other specific space where the document was found.”

Sauber also continually stressed that “[t]he President’s lawyers have acted immediately and voluntarily to provide the Penn Biden documents to the Archives and the Wilmington documents to the DOJ.” Joe Biden has echoed similar remarks, saying that he takes “classified documents and classified material seriously,” and that the DOJ was “immediately notified” upon the discovery of the additional documents.

The Department of Justice has appointed a Special Counsel to the ongoing investigation, naming former US Attorney for the District of Maryland, Robert K. Hur. Additional investigations have been opened up by the Committee on Oversight and Accountability, as well as by Jim Jordan, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, questioning whether the mishandling of these classified documents was concealed due to the 2022 elections.
