The Supreme Court today approved a new rule of professional conduct for lawyers that requires an attorney to report certain serious misconduct committed by another attorney. The approved rule is a court-modified version of the broader of two alternatives submitted to the court by the State Bar.

With some exceptions also stated in the rule, the rule provides:
