Top Corporate Law Firm Bumps Up Salaries For First-Year Associates

Very exciting news, but how much will other associates at the firm be earning now?

Fall is here, and green leaves will soon begin to change colors and fall gently to the ground. But at this time of year, trees aren’t the only things dropping greenery all around. Some firms are still raising associate salaries, and Delaware’s largest law firm just got in on the action.

Richards Layton & Finger, a top corporate firm that was recently ranked by Vault as one of the best firms in the Mid-Atlantic, raised its starting salaries for attorneys from $175,000 to $190,000. An eagle-eyed observed noticed that the firm had changed its advertised salary for new associates on its website. The firm’s salary news happened so recently that it hasn’t updated its basic information on NALP yet (although the raise is present in the firm’s compensation & benefits section).

As for all other class years, we’re sorely lacking information from the firm. If you’d like to help us crack the compensation code for Richards Layton for other class years, please feel free to send us an email. We will keep you anonymous.

This first-year salary bump may not match the Davis Polk money that’s become the prevailing rate in more major markets ($202.5K for the Class of 2021 and $205K for the Class of 2020, to be specific), but more money is more money, so congratulations to all associates at the firm.

We depend on your tips to stay on top of this stuff. So when your firm matches, please text us (646-820-8477) or email us (subject line: “[Firm Name] Matches”). Please include the memo if available. You can take a photo of the memo and send it via text or email if you don’t want to forward the original PDF or Word file.
