The 'We Don't Talk About Bruno' Class Action Song You Didn't Know You Wanted

Great, now you'll have THIS song stuck in your head.

Edelson – We Don’t Talk About Claims Rates – GraphicIt’s April, which means we’re about to kick off our annual Law Revue contest. You know the drill — law schools submit their best variety show stylings and we share them with the rest of the legal community and crown a champion. If your school is looking to participate, remember to email us at tips@abovethelaw.com with the subject “Law Revue Video Contest Submission – [School Name].” More details to follow.

To get everyone’s creative juices flowing, here’s a new video from the good folks at Edelson PC! Edelson Creative, the firm’s artistic wing, has delivered class action rap and Broadway parodies before. Their latest, about maximizing claims rates, takes the earworm that’s already dominated your 2022 and gives it an educational spin.

The video features a mix of Edelson talent and professional stage actors in Chicago. Edelson’s achieved some impressive claims rates over the years. Convincing folks to opt-in is a persistent challenge in the space, since most of us just throw away our class action notifications. Jay Edelson and Amy Hausmann have written before about the outside-the-box tactics lawyers can deploy to boost claims rates from “consulting behavioral psychology experts to design a claims process that maximizes claims rates” to “offering a variety of payment options for consumers” to ease the process.

Not sure the villains of this song deserve all the shade they get here. Getting money to a class is great, but if a class action exacts a price that successfully stops ACME from filling parachutes with silverware going forward, I’ll happily take my $2 coupon. Still, if everyone took Edelson’s lead and expanded class outreach, the world would be just that little bit better off. We have the technology and know how to get more people involved in these cases — use it!
