Paralegal Tips:

1. Slowly build a reference library (click links below for ideas):

2. Become a Microsoft Word expert. Use YouTube to check out teaching videos for “Microsoft Word Basic Skills” as well as “Microsoft Word Advanced Skills”.

3. Knowledge of email protocols & etiquette for the law firm. Click Here for 10 Tips!

4. Develop research skills. Begin by utilizing Google for much of your Paralegal Career research.

5. Type accurately and quickly. Search for typing tests online. Practice, practice, practice to build your speed.

6. Learn to listen to detail very closely. You will need this skill when listening to your attorneys, clients, witnesses & experts.

7. Develop time management and organizational skills. Paralegals are the Administrative Professionals in the law firm, government agency, corporation, etc. Two of my favorite ways to organize my day are: (1) a “to do list”; and (2) a calendar. Become familiar with Google Calendar.

8. You must possess problem solving abilities.
