As to the Majumder piece, and given that patent applications are first published 18 months after their earliest priority date, how does Yahoo already know that China started to file C19 vaccine patent applications as early as February 2020?

The latest draft of the proposed TRIPS waiver has been released. Still no call for forced tech transfer. No surprise there, really, given that the TRIPS agreement does not make provision for forced tech transfer, so no such outcome could possibly be achieved via a “waiver” (not that the legal impossibility of such an outcome has stopped otherwise intelligent people from decrying such an outcome).

I agree with Dayen’s intimation that Prof. Chien is not going to be nominated. I know nothing about any of the names floated in Dayen’s piece as potential USPTO directors. Anyone else know anything about any of them?
