Monday Sessions

Keynote – Motivating Strategies for a Remote World, presenter Thomas Topping who is a professional speaker and employee engagement expert with a master’s degree in Human Resources Management. He has spent his career transforming teams and training individuals for some of the largest organizations in the United States. His professional contributions have been described as innovative, unique, pioneering, daring, and out-of-the-box.

Lassoing the Locomotive sponsored by Tyler Technologies and Amazon Web Services (AWS).  The speaker is our friend, Bruce Graham, Senior Strategy Advisor at Tyler.  Bruce Graham joined Tyler Technologies in 2008 as president of the Courts & Justice Division. In January 2020, he transitioned to the role of senior strategy officer, continuing to work with other Tyler executives in shaping vision and strategy while also pursuing his passion of working with the nonprofit organization Both Ends Believing.

Video Killed the Radio Star - Remote work by video is great, but not quite the same as in person. This session will discuss the impact that days of endless video meetings can have on staff, and will discuss approaches to using video technology in ways that maximize our efficiency but reduce the strain on our eyes, and our brains.

Tuesday Sessions

Changes…Turn and Face the Strange. Who says innovation has to cost a bundle and take an age to roll out? In this session we spotlight low-cost, high-tech ideas that went from 0 to 60 in a hurry. Listen in and adapt one to your court. Recycling encouraged! This lightning round session will showcase several great technologies, including Arizona’s use of the PayNearMe platform, Michigan’s coffee shop user evaluation approach to improving user experience (UX), and utilizing existing teleservice/telehealth platforms to support behavioral health services.

Addressing the challenges of evidence management and virtual hearings during—and after—the pandemic.  Sponsored by Thomson Reuters, this session will share how a variety of courts in the US and Canada are implementing solutions to overcome the challenges the pandemic has put before the courts. What solutions and practices have they implemented? How have those solutions impacted their court operations, reduced their backlogs, and helped them continue their commitment to access to justice for their communities.

The Weight - will discuss technology that moves some services online, and the use of simple tech to help clear the backlog. The pandemic is creating an increased volume in certain case types. This session will feature New Jersey’s innovative Chat Bot, which is used to guide individuals to services and resources as well as answer common questions. Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) is making its way into many divisions and its adoption requires a lot of planning.  Iowa is deep into planning for ODR in Landlord/Tenant. Learn how your court can start the planning process.

The Rise of the Machines sponsored by Computing System Innovation (CSI). This session will focus on proven injection points of where AI and software bots can dramatically assist in expediting court document processing and reducing labor.  Demonstrations ranging from automation of attorney e-filing portal submissions to elimination of clerk portal review and acceptance will be highlighted. In addition, advancements in AI technologies that enable rapid AI system implementation and self-improving AI accuracy will be demonstrated.
